This year promises to be an extra tasty one with three new food festivals set to launch in the North East.
The Proper Food and Drink Festivals, organised by Mark and Shelley Deakin, have already proved themselves a popular addition to the region’s gourmet calendar with outings in North Shields, Whitley Bay and Cramlington in recent years.
Now the format is being rolled out to Blyth and Gateshead,
And details for a new event, The Great North Feast, set to take place in Bents Park, South Shields, are also being finalised for the bank holiday weekend between August 25 and 28.
Mark says: “The Great North Feast is going to be huge and amazingly exciting. It’s going to be a massive celebration of food and drink, but it will also bring together the community for a social eating experience which has never been seen before in the North East. We’ll also be trying to break loads of records.”
The first Proper Food and Drink Festival took place in North Shields in 2012. The events have attracted thousands of visitors since then and have been held in an increasing number of towns across the region.
